Colour Run

Last Wednesday, Parklands hosted its 2nd Annual Colour Run, a vibrant event serving dual purposes: raising funds for Bloom Asia and supporting the Cambodia Youth Camp. Bloom Asia, a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to empowering survivors of sexual exploitation through vocational education, fostering healing, hope, and purpose. Parklands shares a profound connection with Bloom, as they have played a pivotal role in shaping our Mission’s program, with the Cully Family having spent three impactful years in Cebu while serving with Bloom Asia Cebu.

The Colour Run aimed to raise both awareness and funds for Bloom while also contributing to the upcoming Youth Camp in Cambodia. Scheduled for December, this initiative will bring a Christian Youth Camp experience to 100 underprivileged village children at Shalom Valley, Kep—a purpose-built campsite.

Our Outreach Captains, supported by the Student Outreach Club, were instrumental in generating excitement and participation for the event. They engaged with students during Primary Chapel presentations, competitions, and direct interactions with Secondary students during PC sessions. Throughout the day, these dedicated Captains, alongside the Student Outreach Club, worked tirelessly to set up, assist participants, and ensure the smooth running of the event.

The Colour Run was not only a fundraising success but also a memorable day filled with laughter and camaraderie. Even our Heads of School joined in the fun, willingly becoming targets for vibrant splashes of colour! Some of our teachers even volunteered to be “pre-slimed” in the weeks leading up to the event, adding to the anticipation and excitement.

We are thrilled to announce that our collective efforts resulted in an astounding fundraising total of $25,177.50. This remarkable sum will undoubtedly have a life-changing impact on Bloom Asia, and we are incredibly humbled and grateful for the generosity of our College Community.

Special thanks go to the Logan West Fire Brigade for their enthusiastic participation and support throughout the day. Their presence added to the joyous atmosphere, and we look forward to welcoming them back next year.

It’s important to note that 30% of the funds raised will be allocated to the School Fun Run company. This portion covers expenses such as prizes for students who meet fundraising goals, coloured powder, event resources, advertising materials, and the setup of inflatables and sound equipment.

The success of the 2nd Annual Colour Run not only demonstrates the generosity and spirit of our community but also highlights our commitment to making a positive impact both locally and globally. Together, we are truly making a difference.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this incredible achievement!
